Won't you think about adopting me?
Iron Joe is such a great dog! Big, friendly, easygoing, loves attention from his people but not so demanding as to be annoying. He gets along well with other dogs, but does appreciate being allowed to eat separately from others -- he shows no food aggression, but will protect his bowl from other dogs. This is not unusual, especially in dogs who have been living stray, fending for themselves, hunting for every meal.
We are too crowded in our house right now, so Joe lives in one of our paddocks; this means we can't tell you whether he is house/potty-trained, and we haven't tried him in a crate. He has been fine with our goats and chickens, and he enjoys pasture perimeter walks, so he could be a good farm dog. But we think he's probably a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix (aka Pyrador), and that's not a mix we would typically recommend putting in the pasture 24/7 as a working livestock guardian. We have had a Pyrador AND a full Lab as our personal dogs, and they were completely safe with our livestock, just like Joe is, so we know that there are plenty of Labs who don't have a high prey drive. Still, we would prefer to see Joe get adopted as a companion dog, not as a working dog.
He LOVES playing in his little blue kiddie pool, so we think he would love having an active adopter who would take him hiking and camping and give him the opportunity to find out what it's like to dip his toes in a lake or river or maybe even the ocean.
