We're pretty sure that Castor and Pollux are brothers/littermates. We're not sure whether Gemini is their sister, or just a companion who joined them on their adventures. Castor and Pollux are a biscuit/buff color, and look like maybe Anatolian Shepherd mixed with either Akbash or Great Pyrenees. They had been roaming around in East Texas and stopped for a little while at a ranch with sheep and their guardians before being picked up and brought to our ranch.

Castor gets along well with other dogs and is very playful with other young dogs. He is great with our goats and sheep, even with the young goat kids.  He has also behaved nicely when we take him into our chicken yard, so we think he could be safe on a homestead with chickens. His brother Pollux was adopted by a family with backyard chickens, and he has been very good with them, so we suspect the same will be true with Castor. But he will definitely need supervision and proper introductions.

Castor is NOT a big fan of our longhorn cattle. He seems to perceive them as a threat to our goats, and to some degree he's right. The cattle are not aggressive, but their size and their horns do make it possible for them to hurt the goats, whether accidentally or intentionally. Castor will bark at the cattle if they get too close to the goats, and he will chase them further into the pasture.

Castor is very sweet with people -- he can be a little shy at first meeting, but he always comes to greet visitors, interested in making their acquaintance. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, so he is ready to find his forever home on a ranch or small homestead.  You can read more about our adoption process and submit your application on our website: https://www.bluebonnetrescue.org/info/adoption.
