Sawyer and his brother Huck have been guarding sheep and/or goats their entire lives, and they are very good LGDs. They landed in the shelter because the fencing at their original home couldn't keep them safely contained. We have not had any issues with them escaping our fencing <Knock on wood!>  but they have been adopted and returned because even GOOD fencing won't keep them at home unless it's at least 5' tall. Our entire perimeter has 5' tall fencing -- no-climb horse fencing on the back and sides, and rigid utility panels across the street frontage. 4' field fencing with one or two strands of barbed wire isn't the same as 5' tall no-climb fencing. So you MUST have fencing that is at least 5' tall if you want us to give your application serious consideration.

Huck and Sawyer have been together their entire lives, and they work well as a team. We prefer to keep them together, but under the right circumstances, we MIGHT consider separating them.

When they first arrived, they wanted to chase our barn cats, but they have learned to live in peace with them. They have shared a pasture with 4 donkeys and 3 longhorns, and have learned to respect the larger livestock and keep their distance from them.

Huck and Sawyer are a great pair for the right setting. But if your fencing isn't a very secure 5' tall or taller, please don't ask us to consider making an exception for you.
